HYBRID VIGOR & CROSSBREEDING

  • It is a well-documented fact that the Nelore x Boss Taurus cross provides the greatest heterosis of all cattle crosses. This results in heavier weaning weights, increased milk production, greater heat tolerance and increased resistance to disease. Nelore transmit all their fine qualities to their offspring.
  • In combination with the Boss Taurus breeds such as Red or Black Angus or Hereford, the crossbred steers produce the highest quality beef.
  • Based on performance data, the F2 hybrid terminal cross (3/4 European - 1/4 Nelore) will become an important part of the future beef cattle industry.
  • By associating with various groups and breed associations for crossbreeding studies and trials, the Ranch anticipates that numbers will grow considerably in the next few years.
